About
The origins of Capsa
Born in Sweden and raised in a family of writers, Capsa founder Charlotte Frejholtz honed her signature style between the streets of Stockholm and the diverse destinations of their family travels around Europe and the Mediterranean. Starting out with ambitions in fine arts and photography the focus quickly shifted to fashion and led to a move to study at London’s Central Saint Martins, and from there on to Paris, France.
Over two decades of working as a designer in the international fashion industry – the idea for Capsa evolved out of a desire for a deeper level of creative authenticity, integrity and freedom. Unbound by the traditional rhythm of the fashion industry thanks to the small capsule collection structure, and a process that is driven primarily by concept and desire – Capsa is free to grow and change at its own pace.
Basing each collection on a specific creative concept, and often in collaboration with a selected artist or artisan, combined with steadfast attention to the details of construction, ease of fit, form, and natural fibers – the pieces are conceived to be kept and cherished – made for life and not just for a season.
Charlotte currently lives in Paris.
The Capsule System
Capsa is structured around a series of smaller capsule collections – driven by concepts and ideas rather than be part of the traditional seasonal fashion cycle. Concepts are thoughtfully developed in a way that is creative, authentic and spontaneous – from the heart – to create pieces that are meant to be kept and cherished over time.
Favouring a collaborative and inclusive way of working, it aims to regularly invite a variety of artists or craftsmen to contribute to collections.
